Frequently Asked Questions
How It Works
What is Where's My Art?
Where's My Art? is an automated art theft detection platform that helps artists find unauthorized copies of their work across the web. We use reverse image search technology to scan the internet for potential infringements and streamline the DMCA takedown process.
How does the reverse image search work?
When you upload your artwork to our platform, we create a unique digital fingerprint of your image. Our system then searches across millions of websites to find visually similar images. You'll receive notifications when potential matches are found, allowing you to review and take action.
How accurate is the detection?
Our reverse image search technology can detect exact copies, cropped versions, resized images, and even some edited variations of your artwork. However, no system is 100% accurate, so we always recommend reviewing matches before taking action.
How long does a search take?
Initial searches typically complete within a few minutes. Automated monitoring scans run periodically based on your subscription tier, with Business tier users receiving the most frequent scans.
Subscription & Billing
What subscription plans are available?
We offer three tiers: Free (10 searches/month, no monitoring), Pro ($10/month - unlimited searches, 50 monitored artworks, daily notifications, DMCA templates), and Business ($25/month - unlimited everything, immediate notifications, we send DMCA notices on your behalf).
Can I change my plan at any time?
Yes! You can upgrade or downgrade your subscription at any time from your account settings. When upgrading, you'll have immediate access to new features. When downgrading, changes take effect at the end of your current billing cycle.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription anytime from your account settings. Your access will continue until the end of your current billing period. We don't offer prorated refunds for partial months.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) through our secure payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your complete payment card information on our servers.
DMCA Takedowns
What is a DMCA takedown notice?
A DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown notice is a legal request sent to website operators or hosting providers demanding the removal of copyrighted content. It's the standard process for removing unauthorized copies of your work from the internet.
Do I need to be the copyright owner to file a DMCA?
Yes. You must either be the copyright owner or be authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner. Filing false DMCA claims is perjury and can result in legal consequences.
What's the difference between DMCA templates and having you send notices?
Pro tier users get access to DMCA templates they can customize and send themselves. Business tier users can authorize us to send DMCA notices directly on their behalf, saving time and ensuring notices are properly formatted and delivered.
How long does a takedown take?
Response times vary by platform. Most reputable platforms respond within 24-72 hours. Some may take up to 2 weeks. We track the status of all notices sent through our platform so you can monitor progress.
What if the infringing content isn't removed?
If a platform doesn't respond to a DMCA notice, you may need to escalate to their hosting provider or consider legal action. We recommend consulting with an attorney for persistent infringement cases.
Account & Privacy
Is my artwork safe on your platform?
Yes. We take security seriously. Your artwork is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never sell, license, or distribute your content to third parties. We only use your images for the purpose of detecting infringement.
Can I link multiple social accounts?
Yes! You can link Google and Discord accounts to your profile for easier sign-in. You can manage linked accounts from your account settings page.
How do I delete my account?
You can request account deletion from your account settings or by contacting support. Upon deletion, we'll remove your personal data and uploaded artwork. Some records (like DMCA notices) may be retained for legal compliance.
Do you share my data with third parties?
We only share data with service providers who help us operate the platform (payment processing, image search, email delivery). We never sell your personal information. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
